PROFILE
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Janice is descended from early North American settlers and Ontario pioneers. Her Wing ancestors arrived on the shores of North America in 1632. Her mother is a daughter of Russian immigrants. Janice’s late father, Weldon Wing, served with Canada Customs for 38 years. Members of the Wing family have lived in the family home on Barker Street continuously since 1941. Janice has a well-rounded employment background, having been employed in a variety of sectors, including public service, academia, social services, and the building trades.

Janice’s educational background is equally eclectic: She earned a B.A. With Distinction in Psychology with a Marketing minor from Brock University. She also completed post-graduate studies (including Accounting, Finance, Production Management and Economics) toward a second degree (Honours Bachelor of Administrative Studies). She holds Drafting and Tool & Die Making pre-apprenticeship certificates from Niagara College.

Janice first came to prominence in our community for her volunteer initiatives in heritage. During her twelve years on City Council, she has also specialized in animal welfare, environmental and transportation issues.

Janice is known for thoroughly doing her homework; for being caring and responsive to residents’ concerns; and for her businesslike approach, methodical thinking, and clear and concise presentation. She is well known also for her honesty, integrity and strength of character. She is never afraid to express dissenting opinions or stand on the courage of her convictions. She has been vocal for years about the need for the City to take care of the basic infrastructure on which we all rely, and to exercise fiscal prudence.

Janice has two beautiful daughters: 17-year old Guen, and four-year old Shonagh. Her spouse, Bill Colclough, born and raised in Niagara Falls as well, is also a Brock University graduate and has attended Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany. Bill is currently employed in Marketing at the Fallsview Group.
