PROFILE
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Janice is descended from early North American and Ontario pioneers. Her Wing ancestors arrived on the shores of North America in 1632. Her mother is a daughter of Russian immigrants. Janice’s late father, Weldon Wing, served with Canada Customs for 38 years. The Wing family has lived on Barker Street since 1941.
Janice has a well-rounded work background, having been employed in a variety of sectors, including the public service, academia, social services, and the building trades.  She is currently employed as a Course Co-ordinator and Teaching Assistant in the Canadian Studies Program and History Department at Brock University.

Janice’s educational background is also eclectic:  She earned a B.A. With Distinction in Psychology, with a minor in Marketing, from Brock University. She also completed post-graduate studies (including Accounting, Finance, Production Management and Economics) toward a second degree (Honours Bachelor of Administrative Studies) before accepting a full-time position in her professional field.  She also holds Drafting and Tool & Die Making pre-apprenticeship certificates from Niagara College. 

Janice first came to prominence in our community for her volunteer initiatives in heritage.  During her nine years on City Council, she has also specialized in animal and transportation issues.  She is known for doing her homework; putting the interests of the residents first; speaking up for what she believes in, and not being afraid to express dissenting opinions or stand on the courage of her convictions.  She has been vocal for years about the need for the City to take care of the basic infrastructure (roads, water, sewers) on which we all rely, and to exercise fiscal prudence.

Janice has two daughters: 15-year old Guen, and Shonagh, born March 31st, 2006.  Her spouse, Bill Colclough, was also born and raised in Niagara Falls and, like Janice, is a graduate of Brock University (Honours B.A. in History).  Bill is currently employed as the Assistant Website Manager for the Fallsview Group.
